Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Akagera National Park
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out for a thrilling game drive in Akagera National Park. Keep an eye out for the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. After a midday break for lunch, embark on a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll check out of your lodge and travel to Volcanoes National Park, renowned for its stunning volcanic landscapes and rich biodiversity. The drive takes you through picturesque Rwandan scenery, including the dramatic Virunga Volcanoes. Arriving in the park in the afternoon, you’ll check into your lodge, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Take some time to relax and enjoy the tranquil environment. Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today is the highlight of your safari—gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking protocols. Accompanied by experienced guides, you’ll trek through the dense bamboo forests and rugged terrain in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can be challenging, but the reward is extraordinary. Spending up to an hour with these magnificent creatures offers a rare and intimate glimpse into their world. Observe their behavior, social interactions, and the gentle strength of these endangered giants. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the day’s unforgettable encounter.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking and Village Visit
Your adventure continues with golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting out to find these lively primates. Day 6: Hike to Dian Fossey’s Grave and Visit the Research Center
After breakfast, embark on a rewarding hike to Dian Fossey’s grave and the Karisoke Research Center. Spend the afternoon exploring Kigali, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which provides a profound understanding of Rwanda’s history and the country’s remarkable journey towards reconciliation and recovery. You may also visit local markets or enjoy a stroll through the city. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant, celebrating the unforgettable experiences of your safari.
Day 8: Departure
On your final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out of your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for last-minute shopping or relaxation. Your guide will transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. As you leave, you’ll carry with you cherished memories of Rwanda’s stunning wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and rich cultural experiences.
